Nothing is ever really lost to us as long as we remember it ― L.M. Montgomery
In may 2013 I heard the news that the main building of my old school was to be demolished. I knew I needed to make some kind of photographic record about the original school buildings before it was gone forever. In May last year I was granted permission to access the buildings and over several months I have photographed different parts of the school as it approaches the end of this era.
These photographs are not just archival photographic records of the school in its final state, but more an attempt to deconstruct, record and preserve different layers that explore and stimulate personal memories of school day experiences. The primary aim of this book is to engage with all the people who have had some connection to the school throughout the last 50 years, and I believe the photographs will open up these school day memories for each viewer.
